Originally imported into Europe for its purple dye,
Brazilian Pernambuco wood was first used in
bowmaking in the middle of the 18th century.
Amongst the first pioneers to utilise this
versatile material for modern bowmaking
were the Tourte brothers.
An unequaled favourite with musicians and
bowmakers alike, Pernambuco offers
rigidity, flexibility, density, beauty and
ability to hold a fixed curve.
