"... I was very specific about weight and length; I required a heavy bow (about 90g) and with a particularly heavy frog. I also have a long arm and would frequently get irritated by the shortcomings of my bow and so I wanted it longer than average. After two
years of hunting for this elusive bow, my parents and I eventually resolved to
have one made especially, Andrew McGill was recommended to us.
After some friendly discussion, Andrew understood exactly what
I wanted and found a fantastic wood for it: strong enough for the
length. The ebony of the frog had to give it the weight needed
and after a few trials on my cello the final product was precisely
what I wanted. It's an unusual bow and is frequently remarked
upon but it is specifically built for me and
therefore suits my ways of playing: it truly
is 'my' bow."
